PT host Fred Child attends the renowned Ojai Music Festival this weekend, June 7 through 10. Ojai is uniquely devoted to contemporary music, but its programming ventures eclectically into other classical traditions as well. On Thursday, Fred will interview Leif Ove Andses, Ojai's 2012 music director, to discuss one of festival's major performances: John Luther Adams's Inuksuit, an expansive spatial work for 48 percussion and piccolo players placed throughout the main venue and surrounding park. Joining them will be the work's director and dedicatee, percussionist Steven Schick. On Sunday, Fred will interview another celebrated pianist, Jeremy Denk, who will serve as Ojai's music director in 2014.
