On stage with Weilerstin & Barnatan

January 25, 2013

  1. Listen Alisa Weilerstein and Inon Barnatan

Jan 25, 2013 Cellist Alisa Weilerstein and Inon Barnatan perform

What makes a good musical partnership? It's not simply playing the right notes and at the same time. Cellist Alisa Weilerstein and pianist Inon Barnatan say it takes breathing together, artistic agreement and even intuition to know what the other person will do next. Finding that musical chemistry is incredibly difficult.

Weilerstein and Barnatan are both successful soloists, but have added the stress of playing with another person because, they said, duo music is too good to pass up. Weilerstein and Barnatan join PT host Fred Child onstage at the Ordway Center for Performing Arts to discuss the joys and dances of chamber music and play music by Rachmaninoff. This recording was made possible by The Schubert Club.

Music includes Allegro from Rachmaninoff's Cello Sonata in g minor.
